About Us
The proposals of Iğdır University Presidency regarding opening departments, majors and programs within the university were examined in the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 29.01.2020 and in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 as amended by Law No. 2880, the letter dated 10.02.2020 and numbered 75850160-101.03.01-E.10592 regarding opening a Midwifery Department within the said university was deemed appropriate.
The opening of the Midwifery Department within Iğdır University is seen as a part of the university's mission to train new specialists in the field of health services. This department aims to train competent health professionals who are specialized in prenatal, perinatal and postnatal services. The aim of the education to be given in the Midwifery Department is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as women's health, newborn health, reproductive health, family planning, mother-infant health during pregnancy and birth, and postnatal care.
This department aims to provide students with advanced clinical skills as well as empathy, communication skills and ethical values required in the health sector. At the same time, midwifery students will be provided with simulation laboratories, clinical practices in the field and internship opportunities in hospitals to gain professional experience before graduation. The midwifery department curriculum has been prepared based on the scientific and ethical principles required by the profession, current health information and developing technology, and has been carefully designed to train graduates as health personnel who can compete on national and international platforms.
The Midwifery Department, which was opened with the approval of the Council of Higher Education, will meet the increasing need for health personnel in the region and contribute to the improvement of services in the field of women's health. In addition to the potential for graduates to be employed in both public and private health institutions, students also have the opportunity to pursue an academic career and take part in research projects by completing postgraduate education after graduation. This program will not only eliminate the lack of health personnel in the region, but will also contribute to the provision of a higher quality standard in women's health and birth services.
